VLAD DRACULA

Full Name: Vladimir "Vlad" Dracula IV
Age: 18
Height: Roughly 5'6"/5'7"
Species: Vampire.

Physical Appearance: Vlad has a round face and short dark hair with pale green-blue eyes. He stands at roughly 5'6"/5'7" and is of an average build for his age.

Vlad prefers to wear "breather clothes", clothes worn by humans. However, over the course of the time he has been in Stokley, his taste in these has tended towards darker clothes. It could be claimed that his dress sense does lean slightly nearer gothic than it has done previously, but is still very much darker shaded breather clothes.

He also has formal vampire wear, which is a more traditionally vampiric fashion of a black suit, and black cape with red lining. He also favours leather jackets with a collar that is similar to his cape, and has a more relaxed vampire suit; which is black in colour, and has gold bat button along the shirt front.

Personality: Vlad is the Count's "son and heir" who, unlike Ingrid, would much prefer to be a normal child than a vampire. However, he does occasionally show elements of his father's wit and ability to manipulate people. He finds friendship with outcasts Robin and Chloe Branagh as well as his sarcastic stuffed wolf, Zoltan, but remains very exasperated by his father's complete ignorance of human life.

Vlad's life was repetitively confusing. His suffering from his identity crisis is consistent (but even more apparent during his second year in Stokely) because he wants to please his father, but also to be a "normal" child, and he suffered from the pressure on both sides. His desire regarding his vampiric nature seemed to shift from not wanting to be a vampire to not wanting to be an evil vampire.

At 17, Vlad seems to be more or less at ease with himself. Though he is still adament about not becoming evil, he is not entirely disinclined to vampire like. He accepts the more useful things amongst his vampire powers, but would prefer not to become bloodthirsty, mayhem causing and breather-hating. This can unfortunately make him short-sighted, ignoring the bigger picture in favour of the smaller details.

Vlad is also inclined to repress many details of his life that displease, or otherwise irritate him. He is also known to repress many things for the sake of trying to keep the peace within in his own family, and when he does snap, it is often in some grand manner. During the events of the third series, it was made known that Vlad, being the Chosen One, is in possession of 1,000 evil reflections. While he has it under control, this part of him is essentially pure evil, and will act on every little thing that Vlad usually represses. With this, it must also be noted that he shows much more wit, and his ability to manipulate people has even the Count playing along to his games unknowingly.

History: Vladimir 'Vlad' Dracula IV is the son of Count Dracula, and the heir to the Dracula throne, despite the fact that his sister, Ingrid, is older than him. Until Vlad was 12 (nearly 13), he and his family lived in Transylvania, before they were driven out by an angry mob. Vlad was put in charge of finding an abandoned castle, and the best he could find was in a small town in Wales named Stokely, where the family moved.

There, Vlad befriended a kid his age named Robin Branagh, a boy obsessed with vampires, and his sister Chloe. During his first two years in Stokely, Vlad tried rather desperately to avoid becoming a vampire. His attitude towards this changed somewhat during his second year in Stokely, however, wishing not to become a vampire but, as the likelihood of that began to fade away, resolving to try and not become an evil vampire. He also became aware that he was the Chosen One: part of a prophecy made by vampires centuries ago.

During a ceremony held at the castle in which a new Grand High Vampire was to be chosen, Vlad was forced to reveal himself as the Chosen One and take on the title of the Grand High Vampire. As he did so, he wiped the minds of the breathers that were in attendance. He fell unconscious shortly afterward, allowing his sister Ingrid to seize control of the Dracula legacy (The Count had been imprisoned in a UV prison). However, Vlad's eyes began to flicker open...

Three years later, and for Vlad's own safety, he and the Count have relocated to Garside Grange school in Lancashire. They are in hiding, until Vlad is 18 years old, and able to take the crown. Via a vision, Vlad was able to see his sister being in danger, something which was further compounded by the news that the old castle in Stokely had burned down. He went to rescue Ingrid, scaring two slayers, and bringing in the half-fang Erin to their new home.

Shortly after this, it was decided that Vlad is in need of a new tutor, and he was very much reluctant about the whole thing. His first tutor was dispatched by the Count, and Vlad personally tricked the second into turning into smoke, so that he could send him away. The third, however, managed to convince Vlad into letting him be trained, and Bertrand then became a part of the Dracula household. Bertrand aimed to have Vlad open the Praedictum Impaver: a book, it was believed, of vampire prophecy.

When Magda reappeared, Vlad showed that his blind trust in his family is a point that can be used against him, as Magda used it to manipulate herself into the positon of Regent. With the help of his Father, Bertrand, and Ingrid this issue was resolved, and Vlad found himself in the position of big brother when it became apparent that the small child left behind is his and Ingrid's half-brother Wolfie.

It is shown that Vlad has been nursing a small crush on Erin, whom he shared tales of his past with, which included stories of his best friend Robin. When the Count felt as though he was no longer needed, he convinced Vlad to throw a Carpathian Feast in his honour, and it was Erin chosen to be the half-fang sacrificed. This, of course, worried Vlad greatly and believed Ingrid when she told him that a kiss from the Chosen One will protect any vampire.

It was while kissing Erin that he discovered she is a breather, instead of a half-fang as he believed. He still saved her, however, through speaking with another vampire and bringing up the issue of red tape, but to do so he proved himself capable of acting very callaous and uncaring. He assured Erin that he would protect her.

He was quick to ask Erin out on a date, and from there they seemed to settle into a dynamic that seemed akin to dating, though whether it is or not is ... unclear. However, during this period, the Clan Leader Ramanga arrived at Garside Grange, and Vlad was pulled into the Blood Mirror, where his 1,000 evil reflections forced their way into control. Following this, he was easily able to open the Praedictum Impaver, to reveal blank pages.

Vlad's reflections being in control meant that he was now fully evil, and did not care about anything. However, his usual personality did still show through, stopping him from biting Erin, and later Becky. However, he did almost kill his Ingrid and the Count before fully regaining control, and then chose to leave, not trusting himself.

A week later he returned, and was immediately faced with dealing with the possible return of the Van Helsings as Slayers. The testing proved that neither remembers anything about vampires, but Vlad still had to prevent Bertrand from slaying Ingrid in the hopes to implicate them. It was not long after this that Vlad discovered, through Bertrand's snooping, that Erin was a Slayer, and deeply hurt, Vlad banished her.

Of course, Erin then sends him a letter revealing that the mind-wipe failed on the Van Helsings, and they do remember. She also informed him that Ingrid had her own girl gang of vampires, all aiming to kill him. Vlad, taking his father with him, went to investigate the Slayer's super weapon, before returning to try to deal with Ingrid and her vampire gang.

Earlier on, in his anger, Vlad had let slip to Bertrand that Erin had been able to fill in pages of the Praedictum Impaver, and through a vision, Vlad saw that Bertrand had kidnapped Erin and taken the book to finishing filling in the pages. He went to rescue Erin only to find she had rescued herself, and they both went off to confront Ingrid and Bertrand. He was easily able to regain the book and, with Erin's help, they filled in the rest of the pages. This was not a good idea.

The Praedictum Impaver was actually the prison for Sethius, a powerful vampire who claimed himself as the Chosen One. At first, it appeared as though everyone would follow Sethius, but he revealed himself to be mad with power, wanting vampire to fight vampire despite their dwindling numbers. Showing his ability to lead, and his greater strength of thinking, Vlad was able to convince the Count, Ingrid, Bertrand, and the Van Helsings into helping him defeat Sethius.

At the end, once Sethius is defeated, Vlad made Ingrid his "number two", though this caused a squabble between her and the Count, making Vlad remark that it will be a long 100 years - how long he asked his Father for them to try to act like a family. He also promised Jonno that he would do his best to keep his word on 'no biting' for any vampire, making sure to get a promise of 'no slaying' in return.

Strengths: Vlad is the 'smart' one of the family, and more aware of breather customs. He is also the Chosen One, and the current Grand High Vampire. He has also been shown to be a highly capable planner, and very manipulative in his own right. He is more capable of keeping his head in a crisis, and is willing to go to certain extremes to prove himself. Vlad will show loyalty to those he believes he can trust, but expects the same treatment in return. His stubbornness may also be considered a strength.

Weaknesses: Vlad, while more accepting of himself, still appears to have issues with the vampire species as a whole. He is less trained than many vampires near his power standing should be, and while brute strength has proven itself useful so far, he seems very reluctant to continue his training, prefering to 'goof off'. Vlad also has blind trust in his family, something which they are very capable of using against him. Vlad also has the natural weaknesses of any vampire.
